The space of world-renowned architect Jun Itami is permeated with the ‘light’ of media artist Paul C. (Hong-rai Cho).

The Asan Cultural Foundation announced on the 20th that it will hold a special exhibition titled “Light in Silence, Light Wave 2” at the central hall of the Onyang Folk Museum’s Gujeong Art Center from March 14th to 29th.

This exhibition is a fusion project where architecture, media, space, and senses intersect. The meditative architecture of the Gujeong Arts Center, Korea's first such space designed by Jun Itami, is complemented by Paul C's digital sculptural work, using light as a medium. This experimental endeavor brings together the restrained aesthetics of traditional architecture and contemporary media art in a single space.

Jun Itami is a master who has built a unique architectural world based on a respect for nature, humanity, and materials. The Gujeong Arts Center, with its roof curves inspired by a turtle shell and maximizing the texture of natural materials, is a space designed to linger in light and breeze, excluding artificial decoration. It is recognized as a cultural landmark representing Asan.

Paul C's "Light" is added to this architectural order. Paul C is an artist who has explored the phenomena and changes in material properties that occur at the boundaries between light and matter, analog and digital. He focuses on pixels and bits, the smallest units of digital images, and has expanded these into a physical, sculptural language.

This exhibition is hosted and organized by the Asan Cultural Foundation, and co-organized and planned by NIC. Beam Interactive participated in the production. This special exhibition, where the "silence" of architecture meets the "particles" of light, is expected to expand the public value of the local cultural space while introducing Asan citizens to new trends in contemporary art.
