Cheongju Museum of Art (Director: Sangbong Lee) is presenting the contemporary art exhibition “Architecture Becomes Art” at its main building through November 19, 2023.

The exhibition highlights the intersection of architecture and art—two distinct disciplines that influence and inspire one another. Fifteen architects and visual artists are participating, showcasing large-scale installations that provide new visual experiences both inside and outside the museum.

Among the featured works, media artist Paul C. (Cho Hong-rai) presents Canvas of Light, an installation where physically tangible light and the rotation of objects generate shadows that envelop every angle, transforming the interplay of light and shadow into a living canvas. The work fills the “blank” of emptiness with the passage of time, embodying both the vitality of objects perceived in real time and the dynamic narrative of time’s flow. This new series extends into the realm of Meditational Art, metaphorically evoking the essential presence of “this very moment.” With minimal elements of light and shadow, the work reflects philosophical questions such as “to be aware of each moment” and “meditation is presence.”

Director Sangbong Lee of Cheongju Museum of Art remarked, “The fluid visual images of light and color, combined with architectural spatial beauty and sculptural works, will awaken the latent senses of visitors and immerse them into the unknown. This exhibition is also an opportunity to showcase the cultural vitality of Cheongju, the ‘fun city.’ We invite everyone to experience it.”
